Welcome in the apartment of bandit Karásek

He was known as Praguer or Prague George. His bunch of bandits looks like leg braces. For example – Wessel had withered hand, Engelmann had only one eye, Bautzener Carl only half of the nose, Koehler was half-deaf, Fritz lame strongly. Their night marches used to reach up to 20km. They used to disguise with fake beards and blackened faces. And they had only one rule – they never robbed in churches. The game was up back in the year 1800. The whole bunch was prisoned in Dresden. Karasek tried to escape – twice! And that how he got into solitary confinement. Chained to the bunk he died on 9/14/1809.

The Tolsteiner dominion used to be a rough territory in the middle ages, covered with dark woods, through which led several paths connecting Czechs and Lusatian cities. The paths were mostly used by merchants and that was the true paradise for various bandits. Up to the present day are known the names of few bandit leaders as for example Zelenofous (Greenbeard), who got his nickname according to his costume in which he used to rob – he liked to create artificial beards out of ferns, needles or all other kinds of plants from woods.
